Fragomen Bowling Event

Our firm sponsored a bowling event for the office last Friday. They catered lunch, and we went bowling during work hours!

I did not want to go at first -being a newbie and not knowing most of my peers (also I didn not want to see "sausage girl" there. Her self-righteous, I am better than you attitude annoys the bananas out of me.)
However, if I learned anything at all from my mentor - it is that you need to put in your face time. You need to do the song and dance in order to eventually stir the boat in the direction you want. I do know that these are things I need to and I must do - and so I went.

It was surprisingly fun. The HR lady gave us drink tickets, and we had chips, salsa and a variety of cookies.

Our team was called the Lucky Strikes (how creative huh? not my idea). We even made shirts for our team using stickers that you iron on (assembled and ironed during Fragomen time in the conference room!). One team was called "SOBs" - stressed out bowlers. I thought that was cool.

We lost and I sucked - but it was okay. I had fun. Nice to be back in an office environment.

And yeah, sausage girl was there...she did not play but watched on the bench all alone with her sausage self.

Our Home....

Our home has been a work in progress. We have been trying to slowly build and style a home that suits us. When visiting a friend's home awhile ago, I was asked, what our home theme was (their's was Tropical theme). I didn't quite know how to answer it because we really did not know what our theme was supposed to be. As we find furniture pieces that we love, discovered wall colors, and home accessesories that intrigued us, I finally discovered what our home theme was. It was a theme that combined mine and my husband's taste. It is our compromise. It is our middleground. Our home is a little bit of him, a little bit of me - it was ours. It was a combination of modern (his style), and traditional (mine). It was a combination of monochromatic color (his) and colorful paisleys (mine). It was a combination of clean and simple (his) and artsy (mine). It was a combination of flat screen TV's and Van Gogh art replica paintings. It is a theme that is as complex and as simple as our life together. It was a theme that is just our own - our home.

Huntington Dog Beach

The last few weekends have been very relaxing. It is going to be a pain having to re-adjust back to that crazy 15 hour days, if the results do not come out in my favor.

Norm & I took our babies to Huntington Dog Beach. We take them here at least once a month - and get them real dirty - before we take them to get washed.
I would love to live in this area and just walk to the dog beach everyday, but it is quite expensive. There are some really nice houses here though...oh well - maybe someday.
Teddy and Rascal had a blast! We built them a little tent that Norm took forever to assemble, but my doggies won't even get in the tent. They were scared of it - and just sat by my beach chair watching all the other doggies running around the beach.
Ah...I can't wait until this weekend.

Los Angeles Traffic

So it has been awhile. I have not been writing for awhile since I have taken the bar exam. I went back to work as of March 10. I joined our firm's Los Angeles office, located off Olympic and Sepulveda in the dreaded 405 freeway. My commute to work has been anything but pleasant. I used to complain about working from home, and the workload that I have to carry - but I now learn to appreciate that, and miss it dearly, as I sit my butt on the freeway everyday for hours with no end!

The commute is crazy. I wonder where all these people come from. Where are you guys going at 6 in the morning? Sleep in! Let me drive to work in peace, and without interruption.

Almost everyone complains about the traffic in Los Angeles, and for good reason.
